the SEVERANCE edit: perfume & fashion finds

But you know what is (finally) real? Severance Season 2.

Sorry, I love this show. I know I keep talking about it (re: the DIGITAL FRUITS chat). I also love fashion & weird perfumes, which we know too. We meet here today to converge the three.

All hail costume designer Sarah Edwards and production designer Jeremy Hindle.

The art direction on this show is like no other. And you’ve heard me talk about how costume is a plot device. It’s the costume designer’s job to, in tandem with the art department, HMU, et cetera, create a visual narrative that tells the story of these characters through dress, through visuals. And not only can it tell you about the inner world of a character, but color stories can also be used in literal, or symbolic, ways to further the discussion of the context our characters find themselves in. Severance is an incredible example of that, and as the story unfolds, the more we can understand (or speculate on) what these color stories and textures are telling us. All hail costume designer Sarah Edwards and production designer Jeremy Hindle.

So, in honor of this deliciously color-coded program, I found some cool, weird, chic pieces for you. Inspired by the color, plot, characters, and environment of Severance. 31 fashion finds, and 3 perfumes— if my number sorting is correct.

Let’s get into it 👔🗂️

Office-chic. Something you’re no stranger to, since we all got bit by the office siren bug last year. But I feel lately that we’re trending further away from sexy pencil skirts and closer to masculine officewear and ‘80s power-dressing. A la Dylan, Irving, & Mark S.
