In my heart are two wolves battling for dominance, and like all siblings, they take turns winning. Their names are minimalism and maximalism. These days, minimalism is putting up its best fight.

Minimalism is often misunderstood as unfun, boring, uninspired. I resent this. Basics are really fun, and they’re only as boring as you let them be. There’s no reason for t-shirts to be unstyled, for monochrome looks to lack texture and visual interest, for clean lines and simple forms to look serious and without personality.

This year, the street style at Copenhagen Fashion Week has resonated with me a lot. There is a ton of variation, but the big color story is blues, browns, reds, whites, and blacks. I love to see it, honestly, because red and blue as a color combo is one of my all time faves, and my closet is personally full of it.

Scandinavian style is one of those design languages that somehow manages to master maximalism and minimalism so beautifully in a way that feels like neither has to compete with the other in your wardrobe, and that’s a big part of why Copenhagen is such a treat to see every Fashion Month. We’ve picked out some of our favorite street styles of the week.
