Miller Hill Mall welcomes new stores, kiosks ahead of holidays – Duluth News Tribune

DULUTH — As Kenwood Farms celebrates five years in business, the freeze-dried candy and handmade gift shop opened a new kiosk at the Miller Hill Mall on Oct. 1. The location is a consolidation following the closure of its

and

stores.

“This is going to be our permanent spot, unless an actual storefront itself opens up. Then we’ll pop into that,” said owner Char Grovenburg. “We’re also at Fryberger, the hockey arena, doing concessions there. We do several events.”

Since relocating to Miller Hill Mall, sales have tripled compared to the same time last year, Grovenburg said. She’s looking to hire more employees.

The festively decorated kiosk offers stocking stuffers such as freeze-dried candy, canned goods, crocheted towels, stuffies, plushies, and etched woodwork or glass.

“Our canned goods are very well known around the area,” said Grovenburg, whose family operates a larger farm in the Floodwood/Wawina area, as well as two greenhouses at their Kenwood neighborhood property. “We have the hottest salsa and the hottest pickle, which we call ‘Freaking Hot,’ and it lives up to its name.”

Before the holidays, Kenwood Farms plans to integrate delivery services with Uber Eats and DoorDash.

Freeze-drying services are also offered, and a portion of their products are available for distribution.

Kenwood Farms is also seeing an uptick in registrations for its hunter safety and carry permit courses for both Minnesota and Wisconsin. In recent years, Grovenburg has noticed a rise in family participation in hunting.

Kenwood Farms is among several new businesses at Miller Hill Mall. The shopping center remains nearly fully occupied, according to Director of Marketing and Business Development Megan Reuer.

Chulala recently opened in Caribou Court. It features a wide range of jewelry, including gold-filled, sterling silver, and rose gold-filled necklaces, bracelets and anklets. Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Customers can choose from a variety of charms to personalize their pieces, and custom sizing is available. Chulala also provides tooth gems, including gold, single and multi-gem designs. Services do not require an appointment.

Bombshell Bridal celebrated its grand opening Oct. 26. The new bridal shop in Fountain Court is in the space previously occupied by Coach. It offers a unique selection of wedding, mother-of-the-bride, prom and special-event dresses. Hours are Mondays through Fridays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays until 4 p.m.

Juice Pharm cafe and juice bar opened a pop-up shop in Center Court on Nov. 1, specializing in beverages, fresh acai bowls, nutrient-packed smoothies and more. The company also has a location at 208 E. First St. in Duluth.

Just outside the mall,

Chick-fil-A opened

Nov. 14 on the site of the former Park State Bank, which was demolished in May.

“Miller Hill Mall is central to so many holiday memories,” Reuer said. “The decorations, sounds and smells make the mall a special place around the holidays.”
